Sri Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala
The Sri Venkateswara Temple is a landmark Vaishnavite temple situated in the hill town of Tirumala at Tirupati. It is one of the most visited pilgrimage centers in the world, with an estimated 50,000 to 100,000 pilgrims visiting daily.
The presiding deity, Lord Venkateswara, is also known by other names such as Balaji, Govinda, and Srinivasa. The temple is believed to have been built over several centuries, with contributions from various dynasties.
Spiritual Significance
It is believed that Lord Venkateswara appeared here to save mankind from the trials and troubles of Kali Yuga. Hence, the place has also got the name Kaliyuga Vaikuntam.
